Lauryn was a gymnast for 20 years, both for the North Shore Wildcats and then at Springfield College. Over those years the sport took a toll on her body leading to various injuries. It was those injuries and her time spent rehabbing that made her decide to pursue a career in physical therapy.
For the past 6 years Lauryn as been working in outpatient orthopedics focusing on athletes, particularly gymnasts and crossfitters. Besides working as a physical therapist, Lauryn was also the varsity head coach for the Beverly High School gymnastics team for the last 6 seasons. Her team went undefeated 5 of the 6 years, claiming the NEC/CAL Conference Title 5 years in a row, and went 46-0 over the past 5 1/2 years.
Lauryn started crossfit in January 2012 after current CrossFit Wicked coach, Cici Fougere, begged her to come try it out. One class and she was hooked and hasn't looked back. CrossFit has filled the void that gymnastics had left in her life. She loves the combination of gymnastics movements and heavy barbell lifts.
Between her background in gymnastics, crossfit, and physical therapy, Lauryn is a great resource to have at Crossfit Wicked. She is here to help provide support to members who are experiencing injuries or pain and need to modify workouts to stay healthy. She is also available to help create "pre-hab" routines to help prevent overuse injuries that can come up with training.
